Virgin Media, NCLC, Cable Forum and Nepotism
I’ve had quite a surge in visitors in the last couple of days, mainly because of a post I made at www.cableforum.co.uk which contained the Virgin Media NCLC phone number.
For anyone wondering what the NCLC is just read this story I posted some months ago.
Cable Forum users seem to be a bit miffed that I posted this number on their forum (except the ones who sent me PMs asking for the number after Cable Forum deleted it from my post). It seems Cable Forum has “contacts” in Virgin Media. It also seems like Cable Forum are not as independant as they would have you believe.
From the reaction of Cable Forum admins to my post (publically and privately) it would appear that Cable Forum are in Virgin’s pocket and will always side with them.
Virgin have never, officially and formally, asked me to remove the NCLC number (formally and officially means in writing) so I will continue to publish it and urge anyone with unresolved problems with Virgin Media to call the NCLC directly.
If Virgin would deal with customer services issues promptly and effectively when customers first call them there would be no need for the NCLC. Unfortunately Virgin Media are SHIT. They farm out 1st line support to Indian call centres staffed with people who only know how to read the script and can’t think for themselves. Then they increase the cost of support calls from free to 25p per minute (now actually billed per minute and not per second). This has had the effect of making some 90 people at an IBM call centre redundant.
The NCLC is a great department. They are helpful, courteous and efficient. Everything the rest of Virgin Media customer services isn’t.
If your a Virgin Media customer and you have a problem that customer service seem unable or unwilling to solve then call the NCLC. But don’t call the NCLC for every little thing.
Service Interuption
How odd. Yesterday I noticed that my site seems to have reverted to year old data and Wordpress install after some e-mails back and forth an up-to-date backup was restore and normal service has resumed ![]()
I’ve been accused of many things…
Being a good person. Having a twisted sense of humour. A great lover. Even being a geek and nerd!
… But never of reporting illegal activity to the authorities! That’s something I’ve never done to someone I know.
That’s exactly what I’ve been accused of.

One phone to rule them all!
For the last 3 or 4 years I’ve been making do with a Smasung SGH-E800 mobile phone. One of these:
This month I decided to treat myself to something a little less… ancient. Something with a decent data access plan, something with proper MMS and e-mail access. Something like this:
I love it! It does everything a good phone should do - makes calls with great sound quality and handles SMS just great! Plus, I can now check my e-mails wherever I am and play classic Lucasarts games on the train thanks to ScummVM’s Windows Mobile port (yes, that’s Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis playing in the screeshots) ![]()
You have a what!?
If you’re a listener of the Commander Tim Cast podcast (why not?) then you’ll have heard my stories about online dating. Well, what follows is the chat log of a recent MSN conversation between myself (CountZer0) and a girl who contacted me on match.com.
The log has been edited to remove the boring bits (the first hour or so was just general chit chat) and any incriminating evidence. Other than that this is basically how it happened.
All I can say is WTF!? Suffice to say I haven’t spoken to her since!
To be honest I have a feeling that this person was either just trying to fuck with people on match.com or was, in fact, my ex trying to screw with me. I’ve dismissed the second option as my ex is too stupid to be able to string a correctly spelled sentence together. Which just leaves the option of a nut-job who just wants to fuck with people.
Anyway, full chat log after the break… Continue reading »
The long way around…Part 2
If you read the long way around post you’ll know I’m trying to sort out a vacation to the US this year and was finding ticket prices a bit much… Well I managed to find a price that basically does the same flights (London, Minneapolis, LA, London) but for a total cost of about £500!
Now that’s a bargain! And where did I find said bargain? Why Expedia of course.
Very funny story…comming soon!
I have a very funny chat saved from MSN to share with you. Once I cut out the boring bits
Trust me it’s worth the wait! Hoping to get it up tomorrow (the story that is
)
The long way around!?!
Here’s the deal… I’m trying to save up for a holiday to the US this year to see some family and I thought it would be cool if I could have a 3 or 4 day layover in Minneapolis to see the Pink Ninja guys and girls.
I’m doing a bit of investigation into flight costs etc. and check out this doozy from British Airways:
The flight to Minneapolis…
Depart: 11:20-3 Dec from Heathrow (London) Arrive: 14:00-3 Dec at O’Hare (Chicago)
Depart: 15:50-3 Dec from O’Hare (Chicago) Arrive: 17:25-3 Dec at St Paul Intl
The flight from Minneapolis to LA…
Depart: 16:05-7 Dec from St Paul Intl Arrive: 17:30-7 Dec at O’Hare (Chicago)
Depart: 19:55-7 Dec from O’Hare (Chicago) Arrive: 09:30-8 Dec at Heathrow (London)
Depart: 11:55-8 Dec from Heathrow (London) Arrive: 14:55-8 Dec Los Angeles
Can you see the problem? To get from Minneapolis to LA British Airways says I need to fly back to London!! What’s up with that?
